Description:
Transcriptional repressor. Binds specifically to the DNA sequence 5'-GACTNGACT-3'. Has tumor suppressor activity. May play a role in control of cell proliferation and/or neural cell development. Regulates proliferation of early T progenitor cells by maintaining expression of HES1. Also plays a role in antero-posterior specification of the axial skeleton and negative regulation of the self-renewal activity of hematopoietic stem cells. Component of a Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1-like complex, a complex class required to maintain the transcriptionally repressive state of many genes, including Hox genes, throughout development. PcG PRC1 complex acts via chromatin remodeling and modification of histones; it mediates monoubiquitination of histone H2A 'Lys-119', rendering chromatin heritably changed in its expressibility. Is not functionally redundant with BMI1; unlike BMI1 does not stimulate the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase activity in a reconstituted PRC1-like complex (By similarity).

Description:
Steroidogenic factor 1 (SF1) is an orphan nuclear receptor involved in organ development and differentiation of the endocrine system. SF1 has been shown to be essential for fetal development of the hypothalamus, pituitary gland, gonads, and the adrenal gland. SF1 has been shown to promote transcriptional activity of many steroidogenic enzymes from the cytochrome P450 family. SF1 contains two activation function domains, designated AF1 and AF2, common to many nuclear steroid receptors which have been shown to be necessary for interaction with other nuclear receptors as well as coactivators and corepressors including steroid receptor coactivator 1 (SRC1), glucocorticoid receptor interacting protein 1 (GRIP1), cAMP response element binding protein (CREB) binding protein (CBP) and silencing mediator of retinoid acid and thyroid hormone receptor (SMRT).Expression has been documented in human brain, adrenal, spleen, liver, heart, ovary, testis, and placenta.

Description:
Neuritin Antibody: As the nervous system of a complex organism develops, it establishes functional networks through the growth and retraction of synaptic connections from growing axons and dendrites. This synaptic remodeling involves neuro-transmitter signaling, activation of neurotrophin receptors and alterations in gene expression. One such gene whose expression is increased by neural activity is neuritin, a GPI-anchored protein that is expressed in postmitotic differentiating neurons of the developing nervous system. Its expression is also induced by the neurotrophins BDNF and NT-3. Purified recombinant neuritin promotes neurite outgrowth and arborization in primary embryonic neuronal cultures, suggesting that neuritin may play a role as a downstream effector of activity-induced neurite outgrowth. More recent experiments have shown that neuritin is required for the androgen-induced axonal elongation in motor neurons and is upregulated following spinal cord injury, suggesting that neuritin may also play a role in survival and axonal regeneration.
