Description:
This gene is a member of the Antp homeobox family and encodes a nuclear protein with a homeobox DNA-binding domain. It is included in a cluster of homeobox B genes located on chromosome 17. The encoded protein functions as a sequence-specific transcription factor that is involved in lung and gut development. Increased expression of this gene is associated with a distinct biologic subset of acute myeloid leukemia (AML) and the occurrence of bronchopulmonary sequestration (BPS) and congenital cystic adenomatoid malformation (CCAM) tissue.

Description:
WISP-1 is a member of the CCN family of secreted cysteine rich regulatory proteins. It is expressed in the heart, kidney, lung, pancreas, placenta, ovary, small intestine and spleen. WISP-1 is a beta catenin regulated protein that can contribute to tumorigenesis and has also been shown to play a role in bone development and fracture repair. Human WISP-1 is a 38.1 kDa protein containing 346 amino acid residues. It is composed of four distinct structural domains (modules); the IGF binding protein (IGFBP) domain, the von Willebrand Factor C (VWFC) domain, the thrombospondin type-1 repeat (TSP type-1) domain, and a C-terminal cystine knot-like (CTCK) domain.

Description:
GMFB, Glia maturation factor beta, is a nerve growth factor implicated in nervous system development. It was reported that GMF-beta promotes the phenotypic expression of glia and neurons and inhibits the proliferation of their respective tumors in culture cells. GMF-beta protein is specific to the brain where it is expressed in glial cells (mainly astrocytes) and insome neurons. Higher levels of GMFB were found in the central nervous system, except for the spinal cord, and in thymus and colon.

Description:
This is a calcium-independent, phospholipid-dependent, serine- and threonine-specific enzyme. Essential for T-cell receptor (TCR)-mediated T-cell activation, but is dispensable during TCR-dependent thymocyte development. Links the TCR signaling complex to the activation of NF-kappa-B in mature T lymphocytes. Required for interleukin-2 (IL2) production. PKC is activated by diacylglycerol which in turn phosphorylates a range of cellular proteins. PKC also serves as the receptor for phorbol esters, a class of tumor promoters.

Description:
Endocytic receptor involved in endocytosis and in phagocytosis of apoptotic cells. Required for early embryonic development. Involved in cellular lipid homeostasis. Involved in the plasma clearance of chylomicron remnants and activated LRPAP1 (alpha 2-macroglobulin), as well as the local metabolism of complexes between plasminogen activators and their endogenous inhibitors. May modulate cellular events, such as APP metabolism, kinase-dependent intracellular signaling, neuronal calcium signaling as well as neurotransmission. Functions as a receptor for Pseudomonas aeruginosa exotoxin A.

Description:
Binds bacterial lipopolysaccharide (LPS) et mediates LPS-induced inflammatory response, including TNF secretion by monocytes (By similarity). Receptor for the C-X-C chemokine CXCL12/SDF-1 that transduces a signal by increasing intracellular calcium ion levels and enhancing MAPK1/MAPK3 activation. Acts as a receptor for extracellular ubiquitin; leading to enhanced intracellular calcium ions and reduced cellular cAMP levels. Involved in hematopoiesis and in cardiac ventricular septum formation. Also plays an essential role in vascularization of the gastrointestinal tract, probably by regulating vascular branching and/or remodeling processes in endothelial cells. Involved in cerebellar development. In the CNS, could mediate hippocampal-neuron survival.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the bone morphogenetic protein (BMP) family and the TGF-beta superfamily. This group of proteins is characterized by a polybasic proteolytic processing site which is cleaved to produce a mature protein containing seven conserved cysteine residues. The members of this family are regulators of cell growth and differentiation in both embryonic and adult tissues. This gene is thought to encode a secreted protein which negatively regulates skeletal muscle growth. Acts specifically as a negative regulator of skeletal muscle growth. [SUBUNIT] Homodimer; [TISSUE SPECIFICITY] Expressed specifically in developing and adult skeletal muscle. Weak expression in adipose tissue. Belongs to the TGF-beta family.

Description:
Apoptosis plays a major role in normal organism development, tissue homeostasis, and removal of damaged cells. Disruption of this process has been implicated in a variety of diseases such as cancer. AVEN is a recently discovered protein that blocks apoptosis induced by Apaf-1 and caspase-9. It is thought that AVEN functions by binding to Bcl-xL, an antiapoptotic member of the Bcl-2 family, and to Apaf-1, possibly interfering with the ability of Apaf-1 to self-associate, suggesting that AVEN impedes Apaf-1-mediated caspase activation. Higher levels of AVEN mRNA are seen in patients with acute leukemia than in control patients, suggesting that AVEN may be useful as a prognostic indicator in leukemia patients.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene belongs to the integrin alpha chain family. Integrins are heterodimeric integral membrane proteins composed of an alpha chain and a beta chain. They mediate a wide spectrum of cell-cell and cell-matrix interactions, and thus play a role in cell migration, morphologic development, differentiation, and metastasis. This protein functions as a receptor for the basement membrane protein laminin-1. It is mainly expressed in skeletal and cardiac muscles and may be involved in differentiation and migration processes during myogenesis. Defects in this gene are associated with congenital myopathy. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been noted for this gene. [provided by RefSeq, Feb 2009]

This peptide is Histone H3 amino acid residues 1-21. It is acetylated at lysine 18 with a C-terminal GG linker followed by a biotinylated lysine. The acetylation of histone H3 at lysine 18 is used to predict prostrate cancer recurrence and clinical outcome of patients with both lung and kidney cancer. Provided at >95% peptide purity, this peptide was dissolved in distilled water at 1 mg/ml and re-lyophilized to powder form.
