Description:
The 53-6.7 antibody reacts with the 32-34 kDa alpha subunit of mouse CD8, known as CD8a or CD8 alpha. CD8a can form a homodimer (CD8 alpha-alpha), but is more commonly expressed as a heterodimer with a second chain known as CD8b or CD8 beta. CD8 acts as a co-receptor in antigen recognition and subsequent T cell activation that is initiated upon binding of the T cell receptor (TCR) to antigen-bearing MHC Class I molecules. The cytoplasmic domains of CD8 provide binding sites for the tyrosine kinase lck, facilitating intracellular signaling events that lead to T cell activation, development, and cytotoxic effector functions. CD8+ cytotoxic T cells (CTLs) play an important role in inducing cell death of tumor cells, as well as cells infected by virus, bacteria or parasites.

Description:
Protein Kinase c alpha (PKC alpha) is an 77 kDa member of the conventional group (cPKCs: sensitive to calcium, diacylglycerol, phosphatidylserine and phorbol esters) of the PKC family of serine/ threonine kinases that are involved in a wide range of physiological processes including mitogenesis, cell survival and transcriptional regulation. PKC alpha is an ubiquitously expressed PKC isozyme that has been implicated in the regulation of a broad range of cellular functions including proliferation, differentiation, development, migration, cell cell adhesion, cell extracellular matrix adhesion, and solute transport. The activation loop threonine (threonine 497 in PKC alpha) of conventional PKCs is phosphorylated by phosphoinositide dependent kinase 1 (PDK1). This phosphorylation is necessary for the autophosphorylation of threonine 638 in the carboxy terminus of PKC alpha, a step that is critical for regulating the rate of PKC alpha dephosphorylation and inactivation.

Description:
Neurturin is a disulfide-linked homodimer neurotrophic factor structurally related to GDNF, Artemin, and Persephin. These proteins belong to the cysteine-knot family of growth factors that assume stable dimeric structures. Neurturin signals through a multicomponent receptor system, composed of RET and one of four GFR alpha (alpha1-alpha4) receptors. Neurturin promotes the development and survival of sympathetic and sensory neurons by signaling through a receptor system composed of RET and GFRalpha2. The functional form of human Neurturin is a disulfide-linked homodimer, of two 11.8 kDa polypeptide monomers (206 total amino acid residues). Each monomer contains seven conserved cysteine residues, one of which (Cys 69) is used for inter-chain disulfide bridging and the others are involved in intramolecular ring formation known as the cysteine knot configuration.

The BM8.1 antibody is specific for mouse F4/80 antigen, a 125 kDa transmembrane protein widely expressed by members of the mononuclear phagocyte system and considered to be a key marker for mature macrophage cells. F4/80 is differentially expressed during myeloid cell development, and may be regulated by certain cytokines within the tissue microenvironment. Other cell types shown to express this antigen include Langerhans cells, Kupffer cells and dendritic cell subsets. BM8.1 is widely used together with antibodies to CD115 (c-fms), CD11b and CD11c to identify myeloid / macrophage cells by flow cytometry.

Description:
The OKT8 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human CD8α molecule, a tyPEI transmembrane glycoprotein of 32-34 kDa. CD8α is a member of the Ig superfamily, expressed as a homodimer (CD8αα) or as a heterodimer (CD8αβ). CD8+ αβ T lymphocytes express both CD8αα and CD8αβ, while some T lymphocytes and the natural killer cells express only the homodimers. CD8 binds to MHC class I and influences the development and the activation of T lymphocytes.OKT8, RPA-T8, and HIT8a antibodies do not compete with each other for binding to peripheral leukocytes, meaning that that they do not recognize the same epitoPEor block each other by steric hindrance.

Description:
FKBP52 (FK506 binding protein 4) is a member of the immunophilin protein family that comprises intracellular protein effectors of immunosuppressive drugs, and it is known as a steroid receptor-associated protein. As a novel regulator of microtubule dynamics, FKBP52 is associated with the motor protein dynein and with the cytoskeleton during mitosis. FKBP52 is highly expressed in CNS regions susceptible to Alzheimer's, and plays a role in modulating toxicity of Abeta peptides. The protein can associate with the Tau function, and may help to decipher and modulate the events involved in Tau-induced neurodegeneration. In addition, FKBP52 is likely to play a role in growth and development of the male genitalia.

DACH1 is similar to the Drosophila melanogaster dachshund gene, which encodes a nuclear factor essential for determining cell fates in the eye, leg, and nervous system of the fly. It is a member of the Ski gene family and is thought to be involved in eye development. Four alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been described for this gene. (from Entrez gene). DACH1 has also been found to inhibit oncogene-mediated breast tumor growth via downregulation of cyclin D1. Expression of DACH1 has been found to inversely correlate with metastasis.

Description:
The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the MAP kinase family. MAP kinases, also known as extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs), act as an integration point for multiple biochemical signals, and are involved in a wide variety of cellular processes such as proliferation, differentiation, transcription regulation and development. The activation of this kinase requires its phosphorylation by upstream kinases. Upon activation, this kinase translocates to the nucleus of the stimulated cells, where it phosphorylates nuclear targets. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein, but differing in the UTRs, have been reported for this gene.
