Description:
EGF-Like Repeat and Discoidin I-Like Domain-Containing Protein 3 (EDIL3) is a 52 kDa extracellular matrix protein that is expressed by endothelial tissues during embryonic vascular development. EDIL3 becomes quiescent at the time of birth, and is no longer expressed in normal adult tissues. EDIL3 has been found to be re-expressed in a number of human tumors as well as in ischemic muscles and ischemic brain tissue, which may play an important role in adult angiogenesis. EDIL3 promotes adherence and migration of endothelial cells, and acts as an endothelial cell survival agent through upregulation of Bcl-2 expression. EDIL3 has also been shown to be an endogenous inhibitor of inflammatory cell recruitment by interfering with the integrin LFA-1-dependent leukocyte-endothelial adhesion. Human EDIL3 is synthesized as a precursor with a 16 amino acid signal sequence and a 464 amino acid mature chain.

Description:
The cullin family proteins are scaffold proteins for the Ring finger type E3 ligases. Humans express seven cullin proeins: CUL1–3, CUL4A, CUL4B, CUL5, and CUL7. Each cullin protein can form an E3 ligase similar to the prototype Ring-type E3 ligase Skp1-CUL1-F-box complex. The Cullin-RING-finger type E3 ligases are important regulators in early embryonic development, as highlighted by genetic studies demonstrating that knock-out of CUL1, CUL3, or CUL4A in mice results in early embryonic lethality.

Description:
DHRS7 (dehydrogenase/reductase (SDR family) member 7), also known as SDR34C1, CGI-86 or retSDR4, is a 339 amino acid member of the SDR family. Like other members of the SDR family, DHRS7 contains a cofactor-binding Rossman-fold domain and is thought to catalyze the oxidation and reduction of a variety of substrates such as steroids and retinoids. DHRS7 exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms that are encoded by a gene located on human chromosome 14, which houses over 700 genes and comprises nearly 3.5% of the human genome. Chromosome 14 encodes the presinilin 1 (PSEN1) gene, which is one of the three key genes associated with the development of Alzheimer's disease (AD). The SERPINA1 gene is also located on chromosome 14 and, when defective, leads to the genetic disorder ?-antitrypsin deficiency, which is characterized by severe lung complications and liver dysfunction.

Description:
C9orf117 is a 520 amino acid protein that exists as two alternatively spliced isoforms. The gene encoding C9orf117 maps to human chromosome 9q34.11. Chromosome 9 consists of about 145 million bases, represents 4% of the human genome and encodes nearly 900 genes. Thought to play a role in gender determination, deletion of the distal portion of 9p can lead to development of male to female sex reversal, the phenotype of a female with a male X,Y genotype. Hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia, which is characterized by harmful vascular defects, is associated with the chromosome 9 gene encoding endoglin protein, ENG. Familial dysautonomia is also associated with chromosome 9 though through the gene IKBKAP. Notably, chromosome 9 encompasses the largest interferon family gene cluster. Chromosome 9 is partnered with chromosome 22 in the translocation leading to the aberrant production of BCR-ABL fusion protein often found in leukemias.

Description:
The RPA-T8 antibody is specific for the 32-34 kDa alpha chain of human CD8, known as CD8a or CD8 alpha. CD8a can form a homodimer (CD8 alpha-alpha), but is more commonly expressed as a heterodimer with a second chain known as CD8b or CD8 beta. CD8 acts as a co-receptor for antigen recognition and subsequent T cell activation that is initiated upon binding of the T cell receptor (TCR) to antigen-bearing MHC Class I molecules. The cytoplasmic domains of CD8 provide binding sites for the tyrosine kinase lck, facilitating intracellular signaling events that lead to T cell activation, development, and cytotoxic effector functions. CD8+ cytotoxic T cells (CTLs) play an important role in inducing cell death of tumor cells, as well as cells infected by virus, bacteria or parasites.
