Description:
The three mammalian isoforms of TGF-β, TGF-β1, β2, and β3, signal through the same receptor and elicit similar biological responses. They are multifunctional cytokines that regulate cell proliferation, growth, differentiation and motility, as well as synthesis and deposition of the extracellular matrix. They are involved in various physiological processes, including embryogenesis, tissue remodeling and wound healing. They are secreted predominantly as latent complexes, which are stored at the cell surface and in the extracellular matrix. The release of the biologically active TGF-β isoform from a latent complex involves proteolytic processing of the complex and/or induction of conformational changes by proteins such as thrombospondin-1. The physiological role of TGF-β3 is still unknown, but its expression pattern suggests a role in the regulation of certain development processes. Recombinant Human TGF-β3 is a 25.0 kDa protein composed of two identical 112 amino acid polypeptide chains linked by a single disulfide bond.

MECR Antibody: The mitochondrial trans-2-enoyl-CoA reductase (MECR), was initially identified as nuclear receptor-binding factor 1 (NRBF1), which can interact with a multitude of nuclear hormone receptors in the presence of the respective ligands. MECR has been shown to be part of the mitochondrial fatty acid synthesis (FAS II) system and to catalyze the NAPDH-dependent reduction of 2-enoyl thioesters, generating saturated acyl-groups. Overexpression of this gene in transgenic mice can lead to cardiac abnormalities, suggesting that inappropriate expression of genes of FAS II can result in the development of hereditary cardiomyopathy.

It belongs to a family of membrane proteins termed tetraspanins which transverse the membrane four times. In pre B cells and platelets, CD9 antigen regulates cell activation and aggregation possibly through an association with the integrin CD41 / CD61 (GPIIb / GPIIIa). GTX19715 recognizes blood platelets and a few granulocytic cells of normal bone marrow. Recognizes the distal convoluted tubule and the distal right tubule of nephrons.

Neurotrophins function to regulate naturally occurring cell death of neurons during development. The prototype neurotrophin is nerve growth factor (NGF), originally discovered in the 1950s as a soluble peptide promoting the survival of, and neurite outgrowth from, sympathetic ganglia. More recently, three additional structurally homologous neurotrophic factors have been identified. These include brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF), neurotrophin-3 (NT-3) and neurotrophin-4 (NT-4), also designated NT-5. These various neurotrophins stimulate the in vitro survival of distinct but partially overlapping populations of neurons. The Trk A receptor is the preferential receptor for NGF, but also binds NT-3 and NT-4. The Trk B receptor binds equally well to both BDNF and NT-4 and to a lesser extent NT-3, while the Trk C receptor only binds NT-3. BDNF promotes the survival of neuronal populations that are all located either in the central nervous system or directly connected to it. Belongs to the NGF-beta family.

Deletion of a portion of the q arm of chromosome 6 is associated with early onset intestinal cancer suggesting the presence of a cancer susceptibility locus. Porphyria cutanea tarda is associated with chromosome 6 through the HFE gene which, when mutated, predisposes an individual to developing this porphyria. Notably, the PARK2 gene, which is associated with Parkinson's disease, and the genes encoding the major histocompatiblity complex proteins, which are key molecular components of the immune system and determine predisposition to rheumatic diseases, are also located on chromosome 6. Stickler syndrome, 21-hydroxylase deficiency and maple syrup urine disease are also associated with genes on chromosome 6. A bipolar disorder susceptibility locus has been identified on the q arm of chromosome 6. The C6orf204 gene product has been provisionally designated C6orf204 pending further characterization.
