Based on their distribution patterns, some members of this family may be involved in embryogenesis, spermatogenesis, and cellular growth and division. DDX32 is a 743 amino acid nuclear protein that localizes to the mitochondria and is a member of the DEAD box helicase family. Expressed in various tissues, DDX32 is up-regulated by ionomycin in T lymphocytes and down-regulated in acute lymphoblastic leukemia. Considered a novel RNA helicase, DDX32 may play an important role in the development of colorectal cancer and may be involved in regulating T-cell response to certain apoptotic stimuli.

Alternative splicing of the proto-oncogene H-ras pre-mRNA has led to two distinct transcripts, Ras proteins are known to be small membrane-localized guanine nucleotide-binding proteins. However, unlike other Ras proteins, p19ras is localized in the nucleus and the cytosol and its interaction with P73 protein occurred exclusively in the nucleus. Oncogenic MDM2 (mouse double minutes 2) is a known repressor of p73 transcriptional activity. In this study, when p19ras was bound to MDM2, it further inhibited the association of MDM2 to the p73 protein. Therefore, this study presents a novel pathway of Ras signaling that occurs in the nucleus, involving p19ras and p73.

It is a paraffin enriched with polymers, also available with the addition of DMSO (dimethyl sulfoxide). DMSO increases the rate of penetration of paraffin and provides additional preservation of the tissue structures. Its melting range is between 56 - 58 °C and, within this range any specimen can be processed without fear of damage irrespective of the method used.

FAM59A Antibody: FAM59A, also known as GAREM, was initially identified through a mass spectroscoptic method that measures different phosphotyrosine states of proteins in response to different cell stimuli. FAM59A is a downstream molecule in the EGF signaling pathway that is tyrosine-phosphorylated, and this phosphorylation is needed for the binding of Grb2, an adaptor protein crucial to the transduction of growth signals from the plasma membrane to the nucleus. ERK activation in response to EGF stimulation is regulated by FAM59A in COS-7 and HeLa cells, and the overexpression of FAM59A stimulated cell proliferation and colony formation in soft agar, suggesting that FAM59A might be a critical protein with roles in ligand-mediated signaling pathway of the EGF receptor and the tumorigenesis of cells.
