Description:   Since they lack a putative transactivation domain, the small Mafs behave as transcriptional repressors when they dimerize among themselves. However, they seem to serve as transcriptional activators by dimerizing with other (usually larger) basic-zipper proteins and recruiting them to specific DNA-binding sites. Small Maf proteins heterodimerize with Fos and may act as competitive repressors of the NF-E2 transcription factor. Transcription factor, component of erythroid-specific transcription factor NF-E2.

Description:   The function of this gene is not known, but its existence is supported by mRNAs and EST data. A similar gene in mice was found to be expressed preferentially in hematopoietic progenitors and mature blood cells. The function of this gene is not known, but its existence is supported by mRNAs and EST data. A similar gene in mice was found to be expressed preferentially in hematopoietic progenitors and mature blood cells. Two alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been noted for this gene.

Description:   CHST1 catalyzes the transfer of sulfate to position 6 of galactose (Gal) residues of keratan. It has a preference for sulfating keratan sulfate, but it also transfers sulfate to the unsulfated polymer. The sulfotransferase activity on sialyl LacNAc structures is much higher than the corresponding desialylated substrate, and only internal Gal residues are sulfated. It may function in the sulfation of sialyl N-acetyllactosamine oligosaccharide chains attached to glycoproteins. It participates in biosynthesis of selectin ligands. Selectin ligands are present in high endothelial cells (HEVs) and play a central role in lymphocyte homing at sites of inflammation.

Description:   Members of the NFAT (nuclear factor of activated T cells) family of transcription factors are related to NFkB/Rel proteins and form cooperative complexes with the AP-1 proteins, Fos and Jun, on DNA to regulate cytokine expression in T cells. NFAT proteins are widely expressed and alternatively modified to generate splice variants, and they are localized to both the cytosol (NFATc) and to the nucleus (NFATn). NFAT1, NFAT2, and NFAT4 are predominantly expressed in immune cells, and NFAT2 and NFAT3 are expressed at high levels in cardiac tissues. In addition to activating cytokine gene transcription, NFAT2 is also implicated in cardiac valve development, and NFAT3 is involved in cardiac hypertrophy. NFAT5 is detected in both immune and nonimmune cells and, like other NFAT proteins, contains a highly conserved Rel-like binding domain that mediates NFAT proteins associating with specific consensus sequences on DNA. NFAT proteins are activated by increases in intracellular calcium, which leads to the calmodulin-dependent phosphatase, calcineurin, dephosphorylating NFAT proteins. This activating event induces a conformational change in the protein structure that exposes the nuclear localization signal and facilitates the translocation of NFAT proteins from the cytosol into the nucleus.

Description:   This antibody recognizes proteins of 80-200 kDa, identified as different members of CEA family. CEA is synthesized during development in the fetal gut and is re-expressed in increased amounts in intestinal carcinomas and several other tumors. This MAb does not react with nonspecific cross-reacting antigen (NCA) and with human polymorphonuclear leucocytes. It shows no reaction with a variety of normal tissues and is suitable for staining of formalin/paraffin tissues. CEA is not found in benign glands, stroma, or malignant prostatic cells. Antibody to CEA is useful in detecting early foci of gastric carcinoma and in distinguishing pulmonary adenocarcinomas (60-70% are CEA positive) from pleural mesotheliomas (rarely or weakly CEA positive) . Anti-CEA positivity is seen in adenocarcinomas from the lung, colon, stomach, esophagus, pancreas, gallbadder, urachus, salivary gland, ovary, and endocervix.

CF® dyes are Biotium's next-generation fluorescent dyes. CF®647 is a far-red fluorescent dye (Ex/Em 650/665 nm) with excellent brightness. It also is compatible with super-resolution imaging by STORM.

Description:   MBNL2 is a C3H-type zinc finger protein, which is similar to the Drosophila melanogaster muscleblind B protein.MBNL2 is a RNA-binding protein that binds to 5'ACACCC-3' core sequence. It binds to CUG triplet repeat expansion in myotonic dystrophy muscle cells by sequestering the target RNAs. MBNL2 seems to regulate expression and localization of ITGA3 by transporting it from the nucleus to cytoplasm. It may play a role in myotonic dystrophy pathophysiology (DM).
