Microtubule-associated proteins (MAPs) regulate microtubule stability and play critical roles in neuronal development and in maintaining the balance between neuronal plasticity and rigidity. MAP-light chain 3 beta (MAP-LC3 Beta) and MAP-light chain 3 alpha (MAP-LC3 alpha) are subunits of both MAP1A and MAP1B. MAP-LC3M Beta, a homolog of Apg8p, is essential for autophagy and associated to the autophagosome membranes after processing. Two forms of LC3 Beta, the cytosolic LC3-I and the membrane-bound LC3-II, are produced post-translationally. LC3-I is formed by the removal of the C-terminal 22 amino acids from newly synthesized LC3∫, followed by the conversion of a fraction of LC3-I into LC3-II. LC3 enhances fibronectin mRNA translation in ductus arteriosus cells through association with 60S ribosomes and binding to an AU-rich element in the 3’ untranslated region of fibronectin mRNA. This facilitates sorting of fibronectin mRNA onto rough endoplasmic reticulum and translation. MAP LC3 Beta may also be involved in formation of autophagosomal vacuoles. It is expressed primarily in heart, testis, brain and skeletal muscle.

Arginine methylation is an irreversible post translational modification which has only recently been linked to protein activity. At least three types of PRMT enzymes have been identified in mammalian cells. These enzymes have been shown to have essential regulatory functions by methylation of key proteins in several fundamental areas. These protein include nuclear proteins (Histone 2A, 3, 4), IL enhancer binding factor, nuclear factors (NF45, 90, ILF3, Nucleolin, STAT1, Poly(A) binding protein II), cell cycle proteins (phosphoprotein phosphatase 2A), signal transduction proteins (FGF2, Fibrillarin, FN, INFAR1, Jak, MBP, Src-adaptor Sam68), apoptosis proteins (FADD, ICE-like protease), and viral proteins (Hepatitis C NS3 RNA Helicase, HIV TAR). The mammalian PRMT family currently consists of 5 members that share two large domains of homology. Outside of these domains, epitopes were identified and antibodies against all five PRMT members have been developed. These antibodies can be utilized to explore arginine methylation and its regulatory functions.

CD19 is a transmembrane glycoprotein that contains two extracellular immunoglobulin-like domains. CD19 is present in both benign and malignant B-cells and is considered to be the most reliable surface marker of this lineage over a wide range of maturational stages. In normal lymphoid tissue, CD19 is observed in germinal centers, in mantle zone cells, and in scattered cells of the inter-follicular areas. Anti-CD19 exhibits an overall immunoreactivity pattern similar to those of the antibodies against CD20 and CD22. However, in contrast to CD20, expression of CD19 is continuous throughout B-cell development and through terminal differentiation of B-cells into plasma cells. Anti-CD19 positivity is seen in the vast majority of B-cell neoplasms commonly at a lower intensity than normal B-cell counterparts. Plasma cell neoplasms are nearly always negative, as are T-cell neoplasms.
