Description:   PDGFs are disulfide-linked dimers consisting of two 12.0-13.5 kDa polypeptide chains, designated PDGF-A and PDGF-B chains. The three naturally occurring PDGFs, PDGF-AA, PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB, are potent mitogens for a variety of cell types, including smooth muscle cells, connective tissue cells, bone and cartilage cells, and some blood cells. The PDGFs are stored in platelet α-granules, and are released upon platelet activation. The PDGFs are involved in a number of biological processes, including hyperplasia, chemotaxis, embryonic neuron development, and respiratory tubule epithelial cell development. Two distinct signaling receptors used by PDGFs have been identified and named PDGFR-α and PDGFR-β. PDGFR-α is high-affinity receptor for each of the three PDGF forms. On the other hand, PDGFR-β interacts with only PDGF-BB and PDGF-AB. Recombinant Murine PDGF-AA is a 28.7 kDa disulfide-linked homodimer of two α chains (250 total amino acids).

Description:   RBMX2 is a 322 amino acid member of the IST3 family that contains one RRM (RNA recognition motif) domain. The RBMX2 gene is intronless, conserved in chimpanzee, dog, cow, mouse, rat, zebrafish, fruit fly, mosquito, C.elegans, S.pombe, S.cerevisiae, K.lactis, E.gossypii, M.grisea, N.crassa, A.thaliana, rice and P.falciparum, and maps to human chromosome Xq25. The X and Y chromosomes are the human sex chromosomes. Chromosome X consists of about 153 million base pairs and nearly 1,000 genes. The combination of an X and Y chromosome lead to normal male development while two copies of X lead to normal female development. More than one copy of the X chromosome with a Y chromosome causes Klinefelter's syndrome. A single copy of X alone leads to Turner's syndrome. More than 2 copies of the X chromosome, in the absence of a Y chromosome, is known as Triple X syndrome. Color blindness, hemophilia, and Duchenne muscular dystrophy are well known X chromosome-linked conditions that affect males more frequently as males carry a single X chromosome.

Description:   Nuclear receptor that binds DNA as a monomer to ROR response elements (RORE) containing a single core motif half-site 5'-AGGTCA-3' preceded by a short A-T-rich sequence. Considered to have intrinsic transcriptional activity, have some natural ligands such as all-trans retinoic acid (ATRA) and other retinoids which act as inverse agonists repressing the transcriptional activity. Required for normal postnatal development of rod and cone photoreceptor cells. Modulates rod photoreceptors differentiation at least by inducing the transcription factor NRL-mediated pathway. In cone photoreceptor cells, regulates transcription of OPN1SW. Involved in the regulation of the period length and stability of the circadian rhythm. May control cytoarchitectural patterning of neocortical neurons during development. May act in a dose-dependent manner to regulate barrel formation upon innervation of layer IV neurons by thalamocortical axons. May play a role in the suppression of osteoblastic differentiation through the inhibition of RUNX2 transcriptional activity (By similarity)

Supplier:  Prosci
Description:   Nanos1 Antibody: Nanos1 is one of three known mammalian homologs to the Drosophila gene nanos. Nanos1 is an RNA-binding protein containing a zinc-finger motif and is expressed in the developing nervous system and continues in the adult brain. Interestingly, unlike mice deficient in either nanos2 or nanos3, mice lacking the nanos1 gene develop normally with no sign of abnormalities. Recently it has been found that expression of nanos1 mRNA is down-regulated by E-cadherin in a human breast cancer cell line and the amino-terminal domain on Nanos1 interacts with the E-cadherin-binding protein p120ctn. Furthermore, overexpression of Nanos1 in human colorectal DLD1 cancer cells functionally abolished cell-cell adhesion, allowing the cancer cells to develop strong migratory and invasive properties. These results suggest that targeting Nanos1 might prove an effective strategy in the treatment of E-cadherin-negative tumors.
