The cytochrome P450 proteins are monooxygenases which catalyze many reactions involved in drug metabolism and synthesis of cholesterol, steroids and other lipids. This endoplasmic reticulum protein is expressed exclusively in the brain, where it converts cholesterol to 24S-hydroxycholesterol by adding a hydroxyl group to cholesterol, producing a product that is more soluble than cholesterol and able to be exported from the brain.Cyp46 is also known as 24S-cholesterol hydroxylase.

The FR70 monoclonal antibody specifically binds to mouse CD70, a 30-33 kDA type II transmembrane protein and member of the TNF superfamily. CD70 is the ligand for CD27 and is expressed on dendritic cells, activated B cell, and a subset of activated T cells at lower levels. Its main role is in regulating B cell activation and immunoglobulin synthesis. CD70 expressing cells are able to co-stimulate T cell proliferation and upregulate cytokine production. FAIM1 (or Fas Apoptotic Inhibitory Molecule 1) is a recently discovered negative regulator of apoptosis. FAIM1 has no significant regions of homology to other gene products that modulate Fas killing. It plays a role as an inducible effector molecule that mediates Fas resistance produced by surface Ig engagement in B cells. Overexpression of FAIM1 diminishes sensitivity to Fas mediated apoptosis of B and non B cell lines. FAIM1 is highly evolutionarily conserved and is widely expressed in murine tissues, suggesting that FAIM1 plays an important role in cellular physiology.
