Description:
Adiponectin is an adipose-derived secreted protein containing 236 amino acid residues. It is relatively abundant in humans and rodents, accounting for about 0.01% of total plasma protein. The circulating levels of adiponectin are decreased under conditions of obesity, insulin resistance, and type II diabetes. Disruption of adiponectin in mice causes insulin resistance and neointimal formation. Conversely, administration of recombinant adiponectin suppresses hepatic glucose production, and reverses insulin resistance associated with both lipoatrophy and obesity. The protective role of adiponectin is attributed to its anti-inflammatory properties (e.g. ability to suppress expression of TNF-α and class A scavenger receptor in macrophages). Recombinant Human Adiponectin is a multimeric glycoprotein containing amino acids Val-21 to Asn-247 of the adiponectin precursor protein fused to an N-terminal histidine tag. Monomeric glycosylated adiponectin migrates at an apparent molecular weight of approximately 35.0 kDa by SDS PAGE analysis under reducing conditions. The calculated molecular weight of Recombinant Murine Adiponectin is 25.8 kDa.

Description:
SerpinB2 is a serine proteinase inhibitor of the ovalbumin like B clade of serpins. It was first discovered in the placenta, and given the name PAI-2 because of the ability to inhibit urokinase plasminogen activator (u-PA) at low micromolar efficiency. SerpinB2 also inhibits tissue plasminogen activator (t-PA), but with micromolar efficiency, and PAI-1 is much more efficient that SerpinB2 on both forms of plasminogen activator. The structure of PAI-2 is not terribly similar to PAI-1, however, which is an E clade serpin. SerpinB2 is made by many cell types, and is found intracellularly as an unglycosylated kDa protein, and secreted as a 60 kDa protein. SerpinB2 is found in saliva, secreted by gingival fibroblasts, and in the skin. SerpinB2 levels are elevated in serum during pregnancy, and in leukemia, breast cancer and ovarian cancer, although it was lowered in some cancers.A shorter SerpinB2 isoform of 382 amino acids, has been reported, with a predicted mass of 43.1 kDa and a pI of 5.69. The shorter form has a deletion just after the start of the mature protein, but it is unclear what the relative production and distribution is for the shorter sequence.

Description:
STK31 (Serine/threonine protein kinase 31) is similar to a mouse gene that encodes a putative protein kinase with a tudor domain, and shows testis specific expression. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms. Protein kinases are enzymes that transfer a phosphate group from a phosphate donor, generally the g phosphate of ATP, onto an acceptor amino acid in a substrate protein. By this basic mechanism, protein kinases mediate most of the signal transduction in eukaryotic cells, regulating cellular metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement and cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation. With more than 500 gene products, the protein kinase family is one of the largest families of proteins in eukaryotes.

Description:
Caspase-7 Antibody: Caspases are a family of cysteine proteases that can be divided into the apoptotic and inflammatory caspase subfamilies. Unlike the apoptotic caspases, members of the inflammatory subfamily are generally not involved in cell death but are associated with the immune response to microbial pathogens. The apoptotic subfamily can be further divided into initiator caspases, which are activated in response to death signals, and executioner caspases, which are activated by the initiator caspases and are responsible for cleavage of cellular substrates that ultimately lead to cell death. Caspase-7 is an executioner caspase that was identified based on its homology with caspases 1 and 3, as well as the C. elegans cell death protein CED-3. Alternative splicing of Caspase-7 mRNA results in the production of 3 distinct isoforms. Caspase-7 activity can be directly inhibited by XIAP expression.

Description:
TAL1 disruption at 1p32, a common rearrangement in the T-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, usually results in the formation of a SCL interrupting locus (SIL)-TAL1 fusion product. SIL is an immediate early gene whose expression is associated with cell proliferation. The Sil protein exhibits ubiquitous expression in hematopoietic cell lines and tissues. However, Sil protein levels remain tightly regulated during the cell cycle, achieving peak levels in mitosis and diminishing on transition to G1 phase. Overexpression of Sil in primary adenocarcinomas predicts metastatic spread, especially in lung tumors with increased mitotic activity.

Description:
PLA2G12A (or PLA2G12) gene encodes group XII secreted phospholipase A2 (sPLA2) which catalyzes the calcium-dependent hydrolysis of the 2-acyl groups in 3-sn-phosphoglycerides. Cellular arachidonate (AA) release and prostaglandin (PG) production is regulated by sPLA(2)s, groups III and XII. Group XII sPLA2 have relatively low specific activity and are structurally and functionally distinct from other sPLA2s. Cells transfected with group XII sPLA(2) exhibited abnormal morphology, suggesting a unique functional aspect of this enzyme. Role of sPLA2s as potential tumour biomarkers and therapeutic targets for various cancers have been reported.

XBP-1 Antibody: X box binding protein 1 (XBP-1) is a key protein in the mammalian unfolded protein response (UPR) that protects the cell against the stress of malfolded proteins in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). Upon sensing unfolded proteins, an ER transmembrane endonuclease and kinase termed IRE1p is activated and excises an intron from XBP-1 mRNA. The spliced XBP-1 mRNA results in a 371 amino acid protein (XBP-1s) which is then translocated to the nucleus where it binds to the regulatory elements of downstream genes. Together with other UPR transcription factors such as ATF6, XBP-1 stimulates the production of ER stress proteins including the ER resident protein chaperones glucose regulated protein (GRP) 78 and GRP94.
