Description:
Mutations in this gene lead to tuberous sclerosis complex. Its gene product is believed to be a tumor suppressor and is able to stimulate specific GTPases. The protein associates with hamartin in a cytosolic complex, possibly acting as a chaperone for hamartin. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms.

Description:
E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase that mediates 'Lys-63'-linked polyubiquitination of TMEM173/STING, thereby playing a key role in innate immunity. TMEM173/STING 'Lys-63'-linked ubiquitination activates the production of type I interferon IFN-beta following detection of pathogen- and host-derived double-stranded DNA (By similarity).

Description:
This gene is a member of the type IV diacylglycerol kinase subfamily. Diacylglycerol kinases regulate the intracellular concentration of diacylglycerol through its phosphorylation, producing phosphatidic acid. The specific role of the enzyme encoded by this gene is undetermined, however, it may play a crucial role in the production of phosphatidic acid in the retina or in recessive forms of retinal degeneration.

Description:
SLC25A6 catalyzes the exchange of ADP and ATP across the mitochondrial inner membrane. SLC25A6 may participate in the formation of the permeability transition pore complex (PTPC) responsible for the release of mitochondrial products that triggers apoptosis.

Description:
Hormone Sensitive Lipase (HSL) hydrolyzes stored triglycerides to free fatty acids in adipose tissue and heart. In steroidogenic tissues, HSL principally converts cholesteryl esters to free cholesterol for steroid hormone production (ref: SWISSPROT).

Description:
The HTA125 monoclonal antibody specifically reacts with human CD284, a 110kDA type I transmembrane signaling molecule known as the Toll-like Receptor 4 (TLR4). CD284 is an important molecule in the innate immunity response to bacterial lipoproteins. It is expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and endothelial cells. The HTA125 antibody can block Lipopolysaccharide-induced cytokine production and immunoprecipitate human TLR4.

Description:
This gene encodes the insulin receptor substrate 2, a cytoplasmic signaling molecule that mediates effects of insulin, insulin-like growth factor 1, and other cytokines by acting as a molecular adaptor between diverse receptor tyrosine kinases and downstream effectors. The product of this gene is phosphorylated by the insulin receptor tyrosine kinase upon receptor stimulation, as well as by an interleukin 4 receptor-associated kinase in response to IL4 treatment. Description:
This gene generates several transcript variants which differ in their first exons. At least three alternatively spliced variants encoding distinct proteins have been reported, two of which encode structurally related isoforms known to function as inhibitors of CDK4 kinase. The remaining transcript includes an alternate first exon located 20 Kb upstream of the remainder of the gene; this transcript contains an alternate open reading frame (ARF) that specifies a protein which is structurally unrelated to the products of the other variants. This ARF product functions as a stabilizer of the tumor suppressor protein p53 as it can interact with, and sequester, the E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase MDM2, a protein responsible for the degradation of p53. In spite of the structural and functional differences, the CDK inhibitor isoforms and the ARF product encoded by this gene, through the regulatory roles of CDK4 and p53 in cell cycle G1 progression, share a common functionality in cell cycle G1 control. This gene is frequently mutated or deleted in a wide variety of tumors, and is known to be an important tumor suppressor gene. [provided by RefSeq, Sep 2012].
